Why is it called Dandelion Life Coaching?
I believe that dandelions are incredibly reflective of the work that we do in coaching, for a variety of reasons!
Dandelions are an example of a flower that is incredibly resilient and flexible, displaying deep strength despite being so small and easily blown around by the winds.
Dandelions are considered a weed but continue to take up space and spread beauty wherever they go, demonstrating the beauty and joy that can be claimed despite the odds or even in spaces that attempt to limit or label us.
I believe the entire work of coaching is all about spreading pieces of goodness — skills, knowledge, confidence, kindness, independence, joy, creativity, etc. — to everyone who comes through my services. These pieces of goodness, like dandelion fluffs, have taken root in me via the good people and spaces I've come in contact with throughout my life; as these skills and qualities continue to sprout and take root within my clients in their own ways, I hope that they can ultimately leave coaching with their own gifts to plant and grow in the spaces they travel to next.
When and how often will we meet for sessions? For how many sessions total?
Because life coaching does not follow a set path or curriculum, there is not a consistent answer to this question. We'll discuss your availability and what you're looking for at or before our first session, and find a schedule and timeline that works for you. Check-ins are ongoing throughout the coaching process to assess how you are feeling in coaching, and to adapt our scheduling if your needs or goals change. I always make an effort to accommodate my clients' schedules as best I can within my availability, and to prioritize your preferred timeline and frequency of sessions, as long as I feel it aligns with our coaching goals.
Where do we meet for sessions?
To best serve the needs of my clients, I don't meet out of a set office or location. Rather, I work with each client individually to discuss a location that works best for them, whether at their home, in the community, or virtually. I often meet at libraries, bookstores, coffee/boba shops, parks (when it's not 100° out), or goal-specific locations. I've attended events with clients, gone job-hunting in the community, helped clients reorganize their homes, attended college fairs and school tours, gone apartment-hunting, participated in volunteering experiences, explored community resources, and much more! I am happy to accommodate your needs on a session-to-session basis to make sure each time we meet is most valuable to you.
To help support extra costs on my end for time spent and gas used, I do have small fees for any locations that will require me to drive a bit further to reach. For specifics, see the "How much does it cost?" section.
How much does it cost?
My standard rates are $65/hour, with session length and location arranged before each session. Payment for sessions also gives access to any conversations/follow-up during the week, emergency calls/sessions, and any extra resources given.
For in-person sessions meeting in the community, I charge a nominal fee to cover time and expenses depending on the time it takes to drive to the meeting location (from zip code 33312):
<20 minutes: no extra charge
20-30 minutes: $10
30-60 minutes: $15
What is the Pay-What-You-Can pricing option?
To keep my pricing accessible for all, I also offer Pay-What-You-Can rates for those who cannot reasonably pay $65/hour for sessions. The PWYC rate is set by a simple human-to-human conversation during our initial consultation/discovery call prior to our first coaching session. During this conversation, we will establish what your current coaching goals are, what your expected schedule and session frequency will look like, and what rates you can reasonably afford by your own report (no proof of income needed). I am here to meet you where you are at, and never want coaching to get in the way of your own financial stability.
What topics do you cover in sessions?
Because my clients' goals can be so many different things, I cover a wide range of topics in sessions depending on your needs. I find that most goals fall within five broader categories:
Personal Effectiveness and Wellbeing: These goals are all about increasing your overall wellbeing and building skills to take care of yourself. Examples include: Developing healthy routines, finding new strategies for self-care, taking steps to improve your physical/mental health, confidence-building, learning new skills, developing your hobbies, etc.
Community Life: These goals focus on cultivating a community and relationships that genuinely work for you and feel supportive. Examples include: Improving relationships/communication with loved ones, expanding your social circles, trying new clubs/groups, etc.
Educational Opportunities: These goals are designed to support you in your current or future educational goals. Examples include: Improving grades, college search/prep, applying for scholarships, accessing tutoring services, developing study/focus strategies, navigating school in a way that works for you, etc.
Job/Career: These goals are centered around preparing you to succeed in the workplace, while finding work that is genuinely satisfying for you. Examples include: Career exploration, building a resume, finding a job, gaining volunteer/internship experience, improving self-advocacy within the workplace, developing strategies to succeed at work, etc.
Living Situation: These goals revolve around ensuring housing stability and creating a home you want. Examples include: Finding secure housing, navigating apartments/rent, budgeting for rent/utilities/other needs, home maintenance, etc.
There is a great amount of flexibility with your coaching goals and what you want to work toward. Feel free to bring your own ideas to session, and we can explore together what your goals might look like!
What if I give coaching a try and don't end up liking it?
That's totally okay! Seeking out coaching is an act towards self-care, and if you aren't liking the process or you don't like the vibe I bring to sessions, I fully support you in asking me for a change in my approach or deciding to end our sessions. I very much appreciate and encourage feedback during sessions, since it is ultimately the coach's job to adapt and accommodate to the coaching needs and preferences of their client, not the other way around. I never want my clients to feel stuck in our coaching process, and would rather discharge a client or refer out to another provider than keep a client who doesn't feel like they are benefiting from my services.
