What Is Life Coaching?
Life coaching is a collaborative process between coach and client, with the intention of creating a more fulfilling life. Together, we will work together to identify areas in your life that you want to grow toward or develop, create a path to achieve those goals, figure out strategies for navigating the roadblocks that come up along the way, and get direct support in practical skill-building and doing the concrete work in reaching your goals.
Life coaching IS:
Filled with support, encouragement, collaboration, consistency and accountability
Tailored to your personal wants and goals
Adaptable and changing as needed, to meet you where you're at
Positive and celebrating you as we work toward your goals!
Life coaching IS NOT:
Therapy, or a substitute for therapy or other forms of mental healthcare
A one-size-fits-all or stagnant approach
Being told what your goals should be or what pace you should reach them
A quick/low-effort fix
Who Is It For?
Life coaching is for anyone who wants support in figuring out their goals or successfully reaching them. One of the reasons I work primarily with teenagers and young adults is because it is an age where there can be a lot of expectations and pressure to have the future all figured out, yet the answers often feel more out of reach than ever. Many of my clients have expressed how beneficial it has felt to have someone sit down with them and help explore what success looks and feels like for them personally, both in their future and in their present, without pressure or expectations being placed on them of what their life is "supposed to" look like.
Life coaching can be a great resource for individuals looking to:
Figure out "what comes next"
Take steps to improve your life right now
Develop new life skills to build capability and independence
Build self-confidence and trust in your own abilities
Feel genuinely supported without judgment
Push past the obstacles holding you back from success/happiness/comfort/etc.
What Makes Dandelion Life Coaching Special?
So many reasons! (Though admittedly, I am biased, of course.) To name a few:
Affordability: Life coaching services (and support/growth services in general) tend to be a pretty pricey endeavor. Though I absolutely believe my services are incredibly valuable, I also believe in making genuine support accessible to all, regardless of wealth. That's why I price my standard rates at $65/hour (well below the average rates for coaching services), but also offer a Pay-What-You-Can model, which allows us to determine a sustainable price during our initial consultation, to make sure my services are not out of reach for any clients. For more info, check out the FAQ page.
Accessibility: Rather than operating out of a single location, I provide a variety of options to meet my clients' needs and preferences, including virtual meetings, in-person meetings at local third spaces (coffee shops, libraries, etc.), home visits, and concrete activity-driven work in the community. Life coaching is not one-size-fits-all, and I make sure to align each session with the needs and goals of my clients. Additionally, I am trained and experienced in creating inclusive and accessible spaces for people who are neurodivergent, disabled, or otherwise benefiting from accommodations of any kind. Please feel free to reach out if you have any accessibility concerns or needs that you would like to discuss prior to the beginning of our work together.
Philosophy: One of the most common things that hold us back from reaching our goals is judgment, both internal and external. I believe that life coaching can only be effective if the dynamic between client and coach feels judgment-free and secure. I am deeply intentional in my work about creating a space where all identities and experiences are welcomed, and where we can challenge the internal and external judgments that may be holding you back. In my perspective, it is 100% my job to adapt my approach and communication to meet you where you're at and support you how you want to be supported, not the other way around. As a coach, I also bring authentic engagement to the table, as I am genuinely interested in my clients' experiences and truly excited to help you get closer and closer to your goals!
Experience: Despite being only in my mid-twenties myself, I have over 10 years of experience working with young people, as a professional career advisor, licensed public and private school educator, private tutor, and life coach within the nonprofit sector. (For more on my professional history and qualifications, check out my About page.) I have a wide variety of practical experience and training that serves the work I do, and I use a variety of research-backed techniques to effectively meet the needs of my clients; additionally, I am constantly learning and broadening my knowledge on best practices to always continue growing and bettering my approach.
